Mission

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Those famous last words from Jesus as he ascended back in Heaven. To make disciples is our call as believers in Christ. To not only enjoy the grace God has given us but to share it. To share it and help others grow deeper in the knowledge and heart of God. Discipleship is important to us at Destination, and our mission is to reproduce 100 disciple-making churches in the city of Chicago. There are many in our city who do not know the goodness of the Lord, who do not have a relationship with him, and yet they are hungry for it. There are those who have some knowledge, yet aren’t sure what to do next and it is our duty to help them get there. It was never a suggestion from Christ to make disciples. It is an order, a mandate that we who are now disciples go out and make more. The cycle never ends. God wants to bring his children back to him and is our due diligence to plant those seeds and co-labor with God in bringing his heirs back to where they belong.

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26
