WHY

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

As we head into this season at Destination, we know for some there is the thought of why? Why move into a two-service system? The first reason is that this is where God is leading us. There are times in our walks with God where he pushes us into uncharted territory to accomplish the plans he has for us, and we believe as a church this is where he is pushing us; we want to be obedient to his calling. Like it states in 1 Samuel 15:22, “But Samuel replied, ‘What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.’” We want to be obedient to our Lord.

Then there are times where we hit a crossroads of staying stagnant or being willing to take the chance that leads us to growth in new ways. As a church, that is kind of where we have been, sitting at this same number of members and attenders, and with the mission God has given us to reproduce 100 disciple-making churches in the City of Chicago, some of how we have been doing things needed to change. God has been moving in this community in mighty ways, and we do not want to keep it to ourselves. We never want to stay inward focused. To make ways for more people to join in this beautiful community and reach more in Chicago for Christ is always the ultimate goal.
