What Happened to Destination Church Chicago?

NameChange

Dear Friends,

Our church is entering into a season of significant change. Change can be both exciting and difficult. It’s our desire to see this time of transition as an opportunity to trust God even more, take on new responsibilities, serve our city in new ways, and be built together more deeply.

Firstly, we are relocating. In God’s timing we have a new opportunity. Our plans are to move into a church building north of our current location. This will be an initial lease, with the goal to purchase. We are negotiating the terms and striving for a January 1st move. A facility like this gives us a chance to expand our ministry and also affords us more visibility. With the faithful and generous giving of our church over the years we are strongly positioned for this move.

With a new facility there will be opportunities for each person to be involved and take on ownership. Whether it’s work days, updates, cleaning, painting, signage, parking, etc., we encourage everyone to find a way to play a part in our relocation and make it the best it can be.

Secondly, we are changing the name of our church. Over a two year period we have discussed and prayed about a new name that could help us better reach and relate to people in our context. Considering who we are, as well as Chicago’s religious influences, we’ve strived for a name with a “new traditional” feel. On October 28th we will officially become Trinity Church. We hope this name will project a sense of being established and rooted, as well as draw in more generations and walks of life. We have a few special things planned to help us say goodbye to our soon-to-be vintage identity, and positively embrace our new one.

These changes will require the continued investment, faith, and unity of our church family. Your presence and support can make all the difference as we step into God’s calling and direction. Please reach out with any questions or concerns. Please also keep praying for God’s favor over this entire season of change. Above all, continue to enjoy and share the grace of Jesus.

In Christ,
